Important Attendance Change
State law now requires schools to officially record every time a student is absent during instructional time. This means that if you sign your child out during the school day for a reason that is not “excused”, the absence will be recorded as “unexcused”. Examples of excused reasons for leaving during the school day are illness or medical/dental appointments. Examples of unexcused reasons for leaving during the school day are vacations, family days, personal, or if no reason is given. If a student accrues a total of 3 unexcused absences, a truancy letter will be sent to the parents.

School Facts and Accountability Information
This provides links to a series of accountability reports about the state of our school, Pacific Rim Elementary, for the school years of 2004-2015. Under California law, as well as the No Child Left Behind Act, school districts must distribute a report card to show how every school and the district as a whole are performing. This report also must include data on how different groups of students are doing. The school reports tell you how your child’s school is doing compared to last year and to other schools.
